Exhibits, conferences, shows and concerts are all part of the calendar at Cascais Cultural Centre, a multifunctional area that every year opens its doors to host the most diverse cultural events, from exhibits by famous artists to small chamber music concerts performed by local musical groups.

From one’s very first impression, Cascais Cultural Centre stands out, starting with the building itself, the “Pink House”, the former convent of Our Lady of Piety. Commissioned in 1641, this convent was occupied by the Barefoot Carmelite nuns until 1834, the year that religious orders were banished in Portugal.

Years later, the convent was bought by the Viscount of Gandarinha, who transformed it into his summer palace. In the 20th century, this building changed its vocation and became a cultural centre for the town of Cascais, becoming the fourth biggest covered exhibition area in Portugal, with a total area of 3,733 m2.

The Centre also features a chapel, with a multifunctional auditorium for hosting conferences, musical concerts, performances and exhibits.

A visit to the Cascais Cultural centre is always worthwhile and a pleasant surprise. Make the most of this space, discover a new painter or melody or simply enjoy a coffee break at the Centre’s terraced café.

Cascais Cultural Centre is located on Avenida Rei Humberto II de Itália, and  opens from 10am to 6pm, Tuesday to Sunday.
